This conference is a unique forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of research and practical experiences addressing all aspects of empirical assessment and evaluation in software engineering.

We welcome papers addressing all aspects of the area, especially where the experiences relate to the problems that arise from the use of emerging technologies within new application domains.

  • Product and component evaluation
  • Meta-analysis of software experiments
  • Process and tool evaluation
  • Evaluation strategies
  • Experimental design
  • Testing strategies
  • Quality assessment
  • Software experiments, case studies and observational studies
  • Replications of previous experiments and empirical studies
  • Papers should conform to the authors' guidelines available from the ICSE 2004 web site.


    Experience Reports

    Reports are invited that describe practical experiences with performing evaluation and assessment in a commercial or industrial environment.
